"Something catches my attention that launches my imagination... It must engage me."
It can be anything.
It can come from anywhere... something I’m reading, something I see, or something said to me. It can be a person, a statement, a feeling, or a question.
This is the beginning of my artistic process of exploration.
I combine traditional wet and dry media techniques, papermaking and collage, painting and glazing use supplies like sheets of metal-leaf, interference and mica powders, stencils, dichroic fiber, and cloth to create rich reflective, multi-level surfaces. My artworks showcase color, movement, and mood.
When incubating a new creation, I nest in my studio. I clean up the old materials, sorting and organizing the residual elements of past projects. Then, I search for and gather through images, concepts, articles, and papers that speak to me. It’s an intuitive exploration that evolves and becomes multilayered. After years of learning how-to see-through art, the images and subject of my pieces are reminiscent of the archetypical journey by which humanity explores.
Generations of my work include the 'Gifts from the Shadow' series. The series capturing moments from the Deep Feminine Heroines’ Journey. The Matriarch Portraits are a presentation of how women, archetypal and otherwise, express their beingness. Sparkly Kindred Spirits mirror humanity, divinity, and the enchanted realm. Each series is unique, yet an interconnected body or work inspired by mythology, my spiritual journey, perspectives from nature and science and how we think about ourselves.
I do this to explore and express my creativity in endless possibilities and for the joy I experience by going through these processes.
